Overview
How to Fish is a physics-based fishing game with co-op support for 1-4 players that launched on Steam August 20, 2026 . It's an action game about catching, killing, and selling fish rather than a realistic simulator.

How to Fish Works
You start with no gear or weapons . Money is earned by:

Catching and killing fish (rods, melee weapons, guns)

Hitting trick shots for bonus money

Gambling with your fish

Key progression: Complete quests and defeat bosses to unlock new islands with more dangerous creatures and better gear . Fish have rare variants to collect .

Quick Start Guide (Bean Achievement Speedrun)
Use this min-max strategy to finish the game in under one hour :

Lighthouse: Get Brass Knuckles ($58) + Beer ($12). Use 360 spins for 1.5x kill multiplier. Lure Spider Crab boss with Dry Beer Can, dodge its charge, hit from behind .

Volcano: Navigate by following sun (left and forward). Buy Fishing Rod ($3). Catch basic fish, grill in lava for 1.5x price multiplier .

Upgrade order: Get Dynamite → inventory slots → Shotgun → bullet upgrades ($20, $30, $40) .

Mid-game: Pink Standard Lures ($15) → shotgun upgrades ($200, $250, $300) → Orange Professional Lures ($50) → Scientific Lures ($500) → final shotgun upgrades .

Late-game: Save $20,000 for Assault Rifle, get all upgrades .

Combat Tips
Multiply your money: While fish is airborne, perform style tricks. A x5 multiplier on common fish beats rare fish with no multiplier .

Grill in lava: Cook fish in volcanic lava for 1.5x price multiplier before selling .

Save healing items at Military Base for final boss (whale). Lure it into lava for extra damage .

Modding Tools
Cheat Engine Table for UMIGARI: A +20 table exists for UMIGARI (fishing game) with features including money, fly/noclip, no fuel consumption, fish HP/price editing, boat speed, radar range, harpoon speed .

Click PC icon and select game process

Activate options by checking boxes

Multiplayer
The game supports online co-op for up to 4 players . Physics and chaos become funnier with friends . All players progress together through quests and bosses.

Tips & Tricks
Throw fish in air and shoot before landing for trick shot bonuses .

Use dynamite to catch smaller fish quickly .

Watch for seagulls stealing your catch .

Overheating grill: Don't use it as weapon. Grill fish for Yummy in my tummy achievement .

Play alone for speedruns (solo is easier for Bean achievement) .
