The Problem with Traditional Downgrade Methods

You need a specific game version for your mods to work. Steam only gives you the current build. So you search forums for a downgrade patcher. You find a depot downloader. Then you need a manifest ID—pasted from some forum post that's two years old. Then you have to use command-line tools. Then you manually copy files into your game folder. Then you pray it works. Then Steam updates again and you start all over.

This is the "Mantella-style" nightmare—hours of forum digging, command-line frustration, and manual file shuffling. One wrong manifest ID, and your game breaks or your mods stop working.

Reliquary is a game downgrader, upgrader, and installer all in one. Sign in with your Steam account, choose a game and a version, and it downloads that build from Steam's own content servers into any folder you choose. It can also change an existing install from one build to another—in place.

The builds are still on Steam's servers. If you own the game, you can already download them. Reliquary is a front end for doing that without needing to know a single manifest ID.

But we didn't stop at functionality. We completely re-engineered the installation process.

The Installation Process

Download the Reliquary folder.

Extract anywhere. No installer. No registry changes.

Two Things to Know Before You Switch

It rewrites the install in place. There is no backup and no rollback. The way back is to switch again. A 15 GB copy of a game you can rebuild in minutes is not worth the disk space.

Steam will update again. Set the game to "Only update this game when I launch it" in Steam if you want the build to stay put.
